Are you, looking for the opportunity to widen and develop your experience in General Practice and to develop a career combining general practice with your special interest?
South Durham Health is a GP Federation in County Durham and we are offering this post as part of the Health Education England North East and North Cumbria 2018-19 Post-CCT GP Fellowship Programme. Primary employment will be within a general practice setting, in one of our member practices, with additional fellowship sessions in an area of specialist interest (either palliative care or old age mental health, depending on your preference) working alongside specialist providers and other local agencies, plus dedicated time for personal development.
Employment will initially be on a fixed term basis for twelve months (16 months part time) with the intention of future permanent employment. The employment offer will vary depending on your requirements (e.g. full time or part time employment) but will include::
• up to 4 sessions of work in general practice (we can offer a choice of practices)
• 3 or 4 sessions of project work in palliative care or mental health
• 1 or 2 sessions of funded education and development.
Mentorship and support will be provided by one of our GP tutors.
The posts is aimed primarily at those GPs who are within their first 2 years of qualification Any candidate who will gain their Certificate of Completion of Training prior to the end of the 2018-19 financial year is eligible to apply for a Fellowship post
The closing date for applications is Tuesday 19th September and interviews will take place on Friday 28th September 2018 at Wheatley Hill Surgery, Wheatley Hill, Co Durham DH6 3NP.
South Durham Health administers the Durham Dales, Easington and Sedgefield CCG, Career Start scheme. In tandem with Health Education North East, the CCG will fund salaried GP posts in the area. GPs will work at individual practices in the area. GPs employed by the ‘career start’ programme will also receive mentoring on their clinical and personal development.
