Community Interest Company
As a community interest company (CIC), South Durham Health exists to relieve illness and promote health amongst residents and patients registered with GP practices and those who work in the localities of Easington and Sedgefield.
Over recent years this has included:
- Delivering a range of clinical services in partnership with our member practices
- Training support; practice staff – practice managers, GP registrars, administration and clinical teams inc diabetes training
- Purchase of medical equipment to support the delivery of care in practices
- Supporting the upgrade of general practice premises
- Vaccination buying group; supporting practices with reduction of costs and administration burden
- Supporting practices to improve targeted record-keeping for mental health patients
- Encouraging practices to adopt the Royal College of General Practitioners checklist for greener practice in healthcare
- Engaging with a local charity to develop a programme of place-based health and wellbeing advice sessions
- Providing access to information systems to assist practice staff with training and development
- Facilitating the Kick Start Scheme on behalf of member practices to create job placements of six months for 16 to 24-year-olds at risk of long-term unemployment
